Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from therapy?
You can expect to always be met with compassion and free of judgment. Therapy is not about being told what you should or should not do in your life, but about helping you understand why certain things may be causing you distress and finding various alternative solutions which work for you. There is no one-size-fits-all. It is about working together to create the life you seek.
How long do you recommend clients stay in therapy? How often should I come?
The duration and frequency of sessions depend on your needs and goals. Together, we can determine what duration and frequency of sessions would be most beneficial for you. Most people find weekly sessions to be most effective; however, these may transition to every other week or even monthly as clients report improvement and the challenges subside.
Are there any issues or types of clients that you do not work with?
Unfortunately, I am unable to provide services to people under the age of 18. I also do not conduct child custody evaluations nor provide custody recommendations. I do not offer treatment for eating disorders or substance abuse. These are specialized focuses for which I do not have the specific training and licensure.
Due to state licensing laws, I can only provide therapy and counseling to individuals residing in Florida and New York states.
What is sex therapy?
Many clients express concern that they will have to get naked or perform sexual acts in front of the therapist. Do not fear. Sex therapy, like other therapies, is a form of talk therapy. Difficulties around arousal, sexual connection, and intimacy are explored through discussion.
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If a session is canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged the full fee.
Do you prescribe medication?
Only licensed medical doctors are permitted to prescribe medication. However, depending on the presenting problem, some people find medication helpful while others may see great results without it. If you are interested in pursuing medication, either contact your primary care physician or a psychiatrist. If you do not have one, I can assist with referrals to a psychiatrist. If you are already taking medication, I am happy to coordinate care with your doctor.
I am not in Florida or New York, can I still see you?
Unfortunately, I am currently only licensed in Florida and New York so can only see people in these states.
